Pasang and the Sheep Thief

bookcover for Pasang and the Sheep Thief

Pasang and the Sheep Thief was written by Rabin Nepali and illustrated by Shanta Hitang. It is a more complicated story (for ages 7-12) than My Grandmother Says.... A fact sheet is included for use in schools. Both books have text side-by-side in Nepali and English.

Rabin Nepali works as a sponsorship officer at the SOS children’s village in Jorpati, Kathmandu. In his writing Rabin introduces his knowledge of Nepalese village life, as well as the feelings of sukha (happiness) and dukha (unhappiness) among children.

Shanta Hitang is an art teacher at Shuvatara School in Patan. He enjoys illustrating books, since it enables him to combine his artistic skills with an understanding of what children find attractive. Shanta has worked primarily in pencil until recently when he has started to experiment with other media, as one can see in his latest illustrations.

Produced as a joint project of Ramailo Kitaab, the Snow Leopard Conservancy and the International Snow Leopard Trust.
