The Snow Queen is for readers up to Class 6, rounding out the snow leopard titles aimed at teaching Nepalese students and parents about conservation of the cats and their Himalayan habitat.
Helen Sherpa, the author of The Snow Queen, is a New Zealander who has lived for years in snow leopard country in Nepal. The inspiration for this story came from her children’s grandfather, their climbs high up the Himalayas with their father, and years of reading their favorite book Owl Moon.
Punyasheel Gautam, who illustrated The Snow Queen, is an educator and art teacher at one of Nepal’s most prestigious private schools. He wrote and illustrated three children’s books before starting to work on The Snow Queen. Punyasheel has been closely involved in the design of the book.
Produced as a joint project of Ramailo Kitaab, the Snow Leopard Conservancy and the International Snow Leopard Trust.
