Students of Amchi School
Chhimi Rinzin Gurung, the Snow Leopard Conservancy’s Program Coordinator for Mustang, initiated a wildlife conservation education program that currently reaches some 75 students in four local schools ranging from primary to secondary and the monastery-based Amchi (traditional medicine) school. The program focuses on introduction to wildlife, its role in the ecosystem, and the need for conservation.
Teachers use the special educational packets provided by the Snow Leopard Conservancy. These include guidelines for teachers, fact sheets for students and teachers, and a set of interactive teaching materials. Environmental education activities include nature-oriented field trips, interactive games, speech and art contests.
