snow leopard caught in a camera trap in Mustang, Nepal

First Snow Leopard Camera Trapped in Remote Mustang District, Nepal

Ram B Gurung, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Lomanthang, Mustang, along with Snow Leopard Conservancy’s Chhimi Gurung, and Madhu Chettri, ACAP program officer, have recently photographed the snow leopard you see here, via remotely triggered camera in the remote Upper Mustang region of Nepal, near the Tibetan border. Chhimi has been working in partnership with ACAP, a program of the Nepal Trust for Nature Conservation, to predator-proof livestock corrals in Mustang, and enlist local villagers’ support in protecting this magnificant cat. This important work is supported by the American Himalayan Foundation. Congratulations to Ram, Chhimi and Madhu for this beautiful image!
