Tashi Thundup

Tashi Thundup serves as SLC-India’s Field Assistant for Zanskar. Zanskar is the region to the south of Ladakh, where we have been asked by the community of Shadé-Shun to initiate a corral improvement program. Tashi grew up in Karsha village, near Zanskar’s administrative center of Padum. Despite Zanskar’s remoteness and the challenges of obtaining even grammar-school education, Tashi has completed two years of his Bachelor’s degree, and is strongly committed to promoting conservation and development throughout Zanskar. In 2002, with very limited outside resources, he organized a seminar on education and agricultural awareness in Zanskar, which was well received by local people and government. Tashi has received training thorough our Leh office, and is supported in the field by Program Officer Jigmet Dadul.
