Mark and Rodney admire Mark’s “instant snow leopard” (photo by Julian Matthews)
Snow leopards were the beneficiaries when renowned sculptor Mark Coreth took the concept of Art for Conservation to new heights, organizing a very special event hosted by Tricia and Scott Bolton at their Summerleaze Gallery.
While Mark demonstrated his technique for sculpting wildlife in clay, Rodney talked about the Conservancy’s work across the cats’ range, and Rupert Merton showed his excellent short film documenting Mark’s effort to see a wild snow leopard, and his subsequent series of snow leopard bronzes. Details on that trip can be read in Rod’s Notes – Winter 2005.
Thanks to each and every one of the ninety-odd guests, who came out on a beautiful evening in the English countryside and raised over £2,000 for snow leopards!
Besides Mark, the Boltons, and Rupert, special thanks are due to the International Trust for Nature Conservation, Julian Matthews of Discovery Initiatives, noted caterer Victoria Blashford-Snell, and Paul Brewer, who supplied the bubbly!
